This week we are hearing from some mom experts in our first ever Mom to Mom Mother’s Day Special. I am your host Fierce Lizzie, your favorite advocacy based birth educator and homeschooling business mom. But today you’re not going to be hearing from me. The mom to mom special is going to include moms just like you sharing the important topics that are near and dear to their mama hearts. Consider this our mother’s day present to you.

My grandma had a home birth before the home birth revival. And if you want to get technical, she actually had a FREE birth. What’s the difference? A home birth is generally attended by a midwife, or even a physician, while a free birth has no medically trained professional in attendance. In the 70’s most women were having babies in the hospital, and they were crazy about it. Although I am sure there were some hippie mamas starting to birth on their own terms. And maybe my grandma was one of them.
I’m a fierce birth advocate. I can’t shut up about birth and how to best support physiological birth in the hospital. Because the hospital system is NOT set up for moms to have positive and powerful birth experiences- that’s what I’m here for.
My goal is to educate you on physiological birth, what our bodies are capable of, the risks and benefits of the hospital birth, alternatives to the cascade of interventions, how to advocate for yourself, the unique tools to manage unmedicated birth, and why your body wants you to birth unmedicated.
Not mothering by default and unsubscribing to the status quo. Instead give yourself time to make the best decisions in your motherhood based on what you think is right and not just because society thinks you should. Nicole Pasveer discusses more about how to mother intentionally and why this is important for both us and our babies.
Hi friend! I’m Nicole, a former nurse turned motherhood coach and visionary for heart centered entrepreneurs. I am a home birth mama, and recovering people pleaser on a mission to disrupt the narrative in birth, motherhood and biz. I hold space for woman through their seasons of matrescence and help them unlearn and heal from deep societal conditioning so that they can reclaim their power, lead with their heart, and actually thrive in both motherhood and entrepreneurship. I currently live with my husband, 2 dogs, and spirited toddler in Calgary, Canada. Busy building a family and an online business, enjoying her tea while it’s hot and shamelessly unsubscribing to society’s long list of “shoulds.”
Self-regulation for co-regulation. Lindsay shares about the importance of regulation in ourselves, the power of the question “how am I feeling?” and she shares that the way our children learn to self regulate is by borrowing our nervous system.
Hi! I’m Lindsay. I’m a mama, wife, and pediatric occupational therapist. In my OT work, I saw the gap of what was missing for these kids – a solid foundation. This foundation begins in the first year.
Postpartum (and beyond) doesn’t have to be a time of your life that you just survive. In our world it can be so much to navigate between harmful advice on development, unhelpful and overwhelming information on the internet, and societal push to prioritize work, bouncing back and creating a baby that doesn’t need us, over connecting with and nurturing our babies. This can make us feel like we’re failing because there is no way we can sift through all the noise and do it all.
Fortunately, thriving babies don’t require much. It can be quite simple when you understand a few things about development and what babies actually need. And when you cut out the noise of society and projections from others, you can get back to your roots, access your intuition, listen to your baby and provide them with what they need without being completely overwhelmed or doubting yourself.
Breastfeeding helps you fall in love with your baby on a hormonal level. Oxytocin and prolactin are the two key players in breastfeeding and they help you to bond with your baby too. Andrea shares about how breastfeeding is actually better for your mental health than not breastfeeding.
I’m Andrea! I’m a mom of two and breastfeeding peer counselor and lactation counselor (certified with Childbirth International) with a focus on mother-baby-led intuitive parenting. I believe parents have been led astray by the modern medical-industrial system and the multitude of opinions and information available and have dampened the ability to mother biologically and instinctually. I want to encourage mothers to take back that instinctual power in order to be less dependent on the systems that took away their authority

Research shows it can take 5-7 years to balance after having a baby, in this episode Katie, a functional practitioner who specializes in prenatal and postpartum health, shares about nutrient depletion, nervous system changes, digestion changes, hormonal changes, and how this can affect your physical and mental health in postpartum.
Hey there, momma! I’m Katie Galvin. I’m a former speech therapist turned functional diagnostic nutritional practitioner. I specialize in prenatal and postpartum health- but I love all things women’s health and hormones! I’m also a wife, and (unschooling) momma of two. Conventional medicine completely failed me as a new mom, so I dove head first into the holistic health space and learned how to heal my body with functional nutrition and lifestyle strategies. I also became a postpartum doula, and was certified as a postpartum corrective exercise specialist- anything having to do with supporting moms after babies, I wanted in!!! I quickly fell in LOVE and realized a holistic approach to health not only WORKED, but actually addressed the root-causes of the symptoms so many moms struggle with after having babies. I went on to get my certification in functional diagnostic nutrition, and became board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I love teaching mommas how to nourish and nurture themselves (mind & body) at every stage. My mission is to help make the world a better place by supporting moms. When we feel GOOD as moms, we can show up as the best version of ourselves. When we’re empowered as moms we are able to step into, navigate, experience and enjoy the full divine power of motherhood, and fully nurture our children and families. The world is built on mothers and it’s time we put the focus on nurturing the mommas!
Lindsay Williams, a pediatric occupational therapist, is back to talk about why you might want to ditch baby containers – think the mamaroo. There’s a lot more than that too. Baby containers are on almost every moms baby registry, but at what cost? Dive in to the episode to understand these tools, know the alternative to baby containers and be more intentional with how you use them.

Many of us are stepping into motherhood in a way we’ve never experienced before as we learn and strive to parent in a conscious way, heal our nervous systems, all while also wearing the hat of mom entrepreneur. Melissa gives some beautiful encouragement to balancing it all, plus an energetic healing in holding the capacity.
Hi, I’m Melissa! I’m a retired Cirque du Soleil Acrobat turned postpartum doula & energy practitioner. My mission is to revolutionize the current postpartum paradigm and to reduce the overwhelm that accompanies postpartum and help you feel centered instead.
My desire to be a postpartum doula emerged from the births of my own kids. I was in a new city with little support, but luckily my sister visited to help out during the first week. She was the education and support I never knew I needed. We have lost this built-in familiar system and from that, my postpartum mission to serve other mothers began.
By providing postpartum education, nervous system tools, and integrating energy healing modalities, I help mothers find their balance in pregnancy + postpartum. Too often, the focus is on birth and baby, yet we often forget to prepare for postpartum & motherhood-when we actually need the most support.
During postpartum we want to feel connected, grounded in our instincts, and above all-nourished. I guide you back to yourself so you can feel balanced & deeply supported.

I’m also a wife and mother to 4 kiddos. I know how invaluable homeopathic remedies are in the home so to be able to share and educate on this wonderful medicine with moms every day is such a gift. There’s a lot to learn, but by having a trusted homeopath and fellow mama to look to as your resource I hope to make it easier!

Why are minerals such a big deal? They are the foundation for every cellular process and function within your body. Rebalancing minerals during and after pregnancy is essential because pregnancy depletes our minerals by 10%. In this episode, Katie is back, she is a functional practitioner who specializes in prenatal and postpartum health, shares about the macrominerals and how they can affect your physical and mental health as a mom.

Choosing not to suffer starts in pregnancy and it starts with trust and taking back our power. Elizabeth Presta, a birth doula, prenatal coach and podcast host, shares about her two births and the difference in suffering, surrendering, and going with the flow. Tune in to Elizabeth’s episode for more on what surrender is and is not.
I am a birth doula and prenatal coach and have been practicing since 2013. My favorite part of being a doula is partnering with women to make sure they feel validated and heard throughout their birthing experiences. I am passionate about women’s healthcare and am continually learning. I am currently podcasting, working as a birth worker and creating online courses to help spread the message of empowerment and advocacy in the birthing space. Fun fact: I have been to 31 countries (most of them on my own) and have run 2 half marathons.
