What is Nursemaid’s Elbow?
A partial dislocation of the elbow joint that occurs when a ligament slips out of place in the elbow, also called a pulled elbow. Nursemaid’s elbow is a common in kids 1 to 4 years old because their ligaments are loose and bones not yet fully developed.
It can happen with even minimal force on the extended arm. Things like jerking a toddler by the arm, pulling them up by the arm, swinging them by the arms, or even them falling just right, can cause the ligament to slip.
