Recently I got a message that asked what I thought about a post that said “an unmedicated hospital birth is hardly similar to a home birth”. And you know I am always saying you can have a home birth style hospital birth. So let’s dig into this! I share how I think you can have similarities between home birth and some unmedicated hospital birth, and the biggest thing you cannot replicate from a home birth.
Recently I got a message that asked what I thought about a post that said “an unmedicated hospital birth is hardly similar to a home birth”.
And the topic of homebirth or bust was already written on my podcast list… so lets do it.
First of all- you KNOW me.
I believe in our ability to get the homebirt style birth in the hospital – yes
I ultimately wish every single mom could birth at home – yes
And I’m also a little triggered by the home birth or bust message – yes
If you don’t know my story- I really wanted a home birth and had 3 unmedicated hospital births…
There are SO many reasons women are birthing in the hospital…
Cost , insurance
Homebirth midwifery laws
Homebirth midwifery availability
“Risk”
The homebirth or bust mindset is extreme, and reasonably so. So many woman are all in passionate about home birth because THEY KNOW!
However… 98% of women are birthing in the hospital- so I AM HERE to say, I can help you have a better birth experience if you can’t birth at home. In this episode, we’re talking about the specific ways to do it.
