Unmedicated birth in the hospital is not the norm, so you will need a childbirth education experience that is more than the typical hospital birthing class.
There is a ton of support for unmedicated birth in the home birth and birth center models of care, and a ton of support for medicalized birth option in the hospital model of care.
Natural birth courses tend to focus on educating on physiological birth and labor management techniques. What’s often missing is the education on the hospital system itself, the risks and benefits of procedures, a strategy for avoiding the cascade of interventions and the most important thing- teaching you how to advocate for yourself.
